Barrier Breaking

Board / Barrier Breaking Workshop

In our increasingly complex lives, we face many barriers. These barriers often include money, family problems, and mental health issues. They can interfere with your life and cause great stress. Sometimes, worse.

The Barrier Breaking Workshop, also known as Board Breaking Workshop has students sit and contemplate their barriers. After some time, students are then given markers, pens, or crayons and encouraged to write their fears, and barriers on the board. This becomes a physical manifestation of their life barrier.

Students are then asked if they wish to share their barriers with the group. Most participate, but some stay silent.

After a time of sharing, students are then shown how to push through their barriers which are now represented as the board. This exercise often helps artists, writers, musicians, and others break through mental blocks. It helps young people break through anything they feel is holding them back. Once the correct technique is shown, boards may be broken with hands or feet.

  1. I met you at Youth Leadership Camps Canada when I visited there in 2012. You were my counsellor. I remember this workshop – it really helped change my life. Thank you!
